Jim Starr graduated in 1982 from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a BFA in illustration. Jim is a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Baltimore Watercolor Society. His work has been accepted into Print magazine, the Society of Illustrators Annual, and the Washington DC. Illustrators Club Exhibit. For more than 25 years, Jim has worked as a freelance illustrator for advertising, corporate and editorial assignments in the United States, Canada, and overseas. One of Jim’s most notable works was to create the Mill House in the current Pepperidge Farm Logo. More recently he began illustrating children’s books. In 2017, Jim was asked by the White House to illustrate the Holiday Tour Book, which was distributed to thousands of visitors to the White House during the holiday season. He also illustrated the books “Big Sam: A Rosh Hashanah Tall Tale” in 2017, “Don’t Thank Me” in 2020, “The Secret Santa Club” in 2022, and most recently, a Little Golden Book “George W. Bush” in 2023.
