Angel Xiang works at the intersection of law, art, and cultural policy. She received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where her work focused on intellectual property, international law, and art and cultural heritage.
Before law school, Angel earned an M.A. in Art History from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts and a B.A. in Art History, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Mount Holyoke College. Her interdisciplinary background allows her to approach questions of artists’ rights not only as legal problems, but also through an understanding of artistic practice, art history, and the institutions through which creative works circulate.
Angel has lectured on art and law at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts and has participated in academic and professional programs examining the relationship between law, visual culture, and the creative industries. She is a native Mandarin speaker and has reading proficiency in French.
