Rebecca Blake is a graphic designer and Design Director at Optimum Design & Consulting, a design firm in mid-town Manhattan. There she oversees the creation of a wide range of print and Web projects, including marketing materials, logos and corporate identity, website interfaces, and publications. Her clients range from cutting edge technology companies in the high performance computing space to local non-profits. She derives her greatest pleasure in working with clients to realize their vision for their organization’s communications. For over three decades, Rebecca served on the board of the Graphic Artist Guild, as New York Chapter board member and president, National At-Large board member, and National Communications Chair. From 2016-2023, she served as the Guild’s Advocacy Liaison, collaborating with other visual artists’ and creators’ associations on legislative issues and policy. She was the Guild representative to the International Authors Forum, the Authors Coalition of America, the Copyright Alliance, and the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations. During her tenure as Advocacy Liaison, Rebecca worked on Guild efforts supporting the passage of the CASE Act, drafted comment letters to the Copyright Office, lobbied for pandemic relief, and assisted with the Guild’s joint amicus brief with ASCRL in Warhol v Goldsmith. She organized the Guild’s 2021 Creators’ Conference, a one-day series of cross-disciplinary panel discussions on advocacy, copyright, and legal issues. Rebecca was also active with the International Council of Design, serving as the Graphic Artists Guild representative from 2007-2017. She was elected to the Council board as Treasurer 2017-2022.
